A Final Message From Mrs. Belcher
It is with mixed emotions I send my very last message to you. I wanted to say a huge thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special community for the past 24 years. Of all the places I’ve lived and worked (as lovely as they’ve been), nowhere compares. In the words of the old Maerdy song, ‘it is the place for me.’
Whether it is the people I’ve worked with, governors, community members, parents and pupils, there is a magical quality to all. The humour, the strength, the straight talking and the kindness of the people of Maerdy is unparalleled. There is a humour here that runs through the community with people laughing their way out of difficult situations but at the same time there is a compassion for others in need.
I will remember the mountains and the res; the chapel, church, community centre and the monuments where our children sang. I will remember school sports and school concerts. I will remember the colleagues I worked with and the parents I got to know. Most of all I will remember the amazing children of Maerdy. Their confidence, teamwork and smiles. Memories etched in my mind forever to make me smile as I enter the next stage of my life.
Thank you Maerdy you are the best.
