Criw Cymraeg

Croeso i’r Criw Cymraeg

Who are we? Pwy ydym ni?

We are the Criw Cymraeg of Maerdy Primary School. There are currently 10 members from KS2. We chose to join the Criw Cymraeg because we are very interested in improving the use of Welsh in our school and in the community.

Our aim is to help and encourage all pupils at Maerdy Primary to speak and learn Welsh in a fun way.

This year we are striving to achieve our Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award and to play our part in helping the Government reach their aim of one million Welsh speakers by 2050.

What do we do? Beth ydym ni’n wneud?

We meet every week to discuss Campus Cymraeg targets.

We decide on and display the ‘Brawddeg Yr Wythnos’ (sentence of the week) throughout the school.

We suggest ideas and talk about the agenda for improving Welsh.

We have an active role in encouraging all pupils and staff in using everyday Welsh and promoting our Welsh culture.

Why learn Welsh?

There are many advantages to learning Welsh, we've included some in the PowerPoint below. Take a look and help us at home.

How can you help?

Here are some useful webpage links and documents to make learning Welsh at home fun.
